We Made It To The Top!
Pikes Peak Summit

by Kevin Watson

We travel to Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument to see petrified wood stumps and beautiful grassy mountain valleys!  After striking out for a parking spot at Garden of the Gods, we decide to head to Pikes Peak in Cascade, Colorado, where we travel up Pikes Peak Highway to the top of the 14,115-foot summit of "America's Mountain"! Although we could have taken in the views from Pikes Peak all day long, we decide to leave and visit the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park, Colorado!  Their dinosaur and prehistoric marine reptile exhibits, along with the hands-on activities throughout the museum, make for a great afternoon to learn about all the fossils that have been discovered in the Rocky Mountain region!
